Question 1: What do you enjoy most about your current role & career overall?
As a young news journalist, I enjoyed producing shows for my local communities. It was a daily opportunity to give people information so they can make informed decisions on their lives. At this current stage of my career, I enjoy seeing our anchors, hosts, reporters, and analysts excel on their respective platforms.
Question 2: How should students best maximize their internships?
Learn as much as you can. Meet with as many leaders in the company and find our their career path to their current role. Exposure is everything to young interns trying to figure out how they’re going to make an impact on the workforce.
Question 3: What skills and personal characteristics do you feel contribute most to success in your industry?
Your ability to write is critical in the communications business. Also, how you show up and serve will go a long way in building your brand.
Question 4: What are the biggest early-career mistakes to avoid?
Enjoy the process. Learn as much as you can and continually work on your craft.
